The crowd at Aya's tonight was thick, despite the large grouping however the scene mostly docile. Each waitress with a smile, eagerly awaiting big spenders and bigger tips. Killian's drink found its place before him, the glowing contents in the glass a sign of its volitile nature.

His eye scanned for a specific type of individual. One that would frequent this specific setting, there were options depending on who you were looking for, Diamante's, JD's or Aya's. His choice would be one he could find here, a veteran. Someone who had put in their time around the galaxy, but may have seen hardships as of late. That type, the dependable type. The one who needed the work, be it personal or financial. Most were content to see a payday...the merc that needed a reason besides the money was the one you could count on. At least that was Killian's reasoning.

It had taken Kai much longer to arrive at the temple than she had originally imagined. There had been problems with her hired transport, and several "necessary" detours that at times seemed ridiculous. She had been patient though, and finally, weeks past her projected arrival, she was standing here looking at what she hoped was her future. The heavy looking door opened easily enough with only a slight push. Stepping inside, Kai looked around slowly, taking in her surroundings.

Continuing on, she took notice of the people coming and going through the large area. She stopped somewhat near the center of the room and waited to be noticed, supposing that it wouldn't take long for someone to notice her traveling clothes and the small bag containing her few possessions.

Sitting in the middle of Dojo, Caltin meditated on the events of the past few days, Caltin waited for Flux to arrive. He needed to get her back on track in her training and no better way to do that then moving straight ahead. Now that Manu was back in the fold she could train without that distraction. Now to face the others that may arise.
Eyes closed, smiling as while he had already been outside, feeling the sun shining on him and the breeze rolling in through the windows. It was going to be a great day.

"Hrm..." he rumbled thoughtfully.

Seated in the archives with the translation of an ancient tome open before him, Darth Thanatos read slowly, pausing to inspect the blood-red crystal that hung from a chain. Often, that same gem hung around his neck. It was a find from Korriban, from Dathka Graush's tomb when he and Alice Di Scarra had investigated that ruin some months earlier. Reading over the speculations that researchers had made about the items in Graush's possession several millennia earlier, Maize found that the earlier Sith and historians knew as much as he did about the carnelian gem: nothing.

With a sigh, Maize slammed the translation shut. The table bounced with a satisfying thud from the force of it. He shrugged the gem back over his neck, turning to find a woman staring back at him. Maize jumped, more startled by her appearance as a Kiffar woman than by her actual presence.

Another one around here? Well, at least Kassandra isn't back yet to feel... tempted...

Maize flinched, pushing that poisonous thought away. It was ancient history now and, amazingly, they were finding their way past that history. He needed to be sure he stopped letting his mind be so distracted by such thoughts.

"Take a holo, it'll last longer," he said wryly, meeting her shadowed gaze.

[ooc] The first few posts of thread will mostly happen onboard Invictus' personal ship en route from Ruusan to Ziost. If you want to interact from Ship to Ship GREAT if not, please wait until we make landfall on Ziost. [/ooc]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ruusan Space Port
Dock B

The Valkyr was a finely constructed ship. The Beranian Shipyards had spared no effort, even in their rush, to ensure that every bolt was tight, every spur burnished, and every joint was flush. It's paint scheme was simple, navy blue and cold gray in a digital pattern to merge with a starry background, making the ship more difficult to target in fighter combat. Near the center of the modified WR-588 Personal Cruiser, on both the bow and keel of the ship, were two retractable turrets. Both were equipped with two light ion cannons, which gave the Valkyr two 360-degree firing field on both top and bottom. Next to each retractable turret was a hidden panel, which concealed a SMRM System. Each was equipped with 10 Medium Ranged, 5-Warhead Clusters using Image Recognizing Smart Targeting, and 10 Short Ranged, 10-Warhead Clusters using Friend or Foe Rapid Lock Targeting. This gave the Valkyr a serious punch, in the event her powerful Class 0.5 Hyperdrive was disabled or trapped in an interdiction field.

Lt. Valta and 2nd Lt. Brea stood at proud attention in front of the ship. Their crisp, light blue Ruusan Space Service uniforms were creased and pressed perfect and the rank bars and commendation medals where perfectly polished to reflect the artificial light in the hangar. The two women were medium height, about 1.75m and, like most Ruusan women, curvy, but with a trained athleticism behind the curves.

Lt. Valta was auburn haired and brown-eyed. She had sharp, attractive facial lines and a professional air about her, clearly aware of her rank and her commission. 2nd Lt. Brea was raven haired and emerald-eyed. Her face was rounder, with softer features, cute, but not elegant. She was fresh out of the academy and clearly had a more easy going aura, but she, like her superior, maintained a her professionalism in front of the the nobility of Ruusan.

As Talus Vargas approached, both women bowed their heads lowly.

"Lord Vargas, I am Lt. Valta and this is 2nd Lt. Brea. We have been dispatched to serve you and your companions."

Vargas was dressed casually. Loose linen pants, comfortable patent leather shoes, and a partially buttoned white cotton shirt. His long, black dreadlocks were pulled loosely into a pony-tail behind his head. Over his left-eye was a small metallic patch that covered the socket that remained when he lost his eye in a lightsaber contest. In both hands he carried a large duffel. A service droid approached and took his bags.

"Take those to the Master Suite," Vargas commanded.

The droid blinked and did as it was commanded. As the Droid walked off, Vargas nodded to the women.

"It's a pleasure to meet both of you. I read many great things about both of you in your profiles. This is the first time I've had the pleasure of riding in my personal cruiser. In fact, I haven't even gotten to inspect her since she was delivered."

2nd Lt. Brea eagerly responded: "Well then m'lord, I would be honored to guide you through your inspection."

Talus smiled, he then turned to Lt. Valta: "Would you care to join us for inspection?" His tone subtly bordering on innuendo."

Lt. Valta smiled politely, but shook her head in the negative: "I'm sorry m'lord, but someone needs to wait for Lord Killian and the others."

"Of course, Lt. Valta. Thank you," Vargas replied. Then he motioned for Brea to lead the way. It would be a good way to kill the time as he waited for the rest to join him."

--Ancient Text

.....

I awoke and yet remained asleep. Heaven help me. From the edge I do leap.

"There are places in the Iron Citadel where no man walks at night. To the deep roads that lay between the aisles of books and study. A library fit for a queen. It is here in these hallowed texts that much history can be rediscovered, learned, and seen anew. For we are such fragile beings and our lives so short in a galaxy so large. I wonder Jedi? ...Why have you come? To rediscover the past, perhaps? To be seen anew?"

"Who are you woman? Why do you tempt me with questions you know already of?"

"Ah. So you have questions. That is good. Take only with you that which you require. Your weapons... You will not need them."

The Jedi remained motionless against the moonlight shadows. His eyes sparkled and dimmed to catch the every movement of the robed woman before him. The witch who invaded his studying dream.

"Come Jedi. I shall guide you down familiar paths and to places long thought forgotten."

"I shall follow. Lead on woman. I desire a beginning to all this."

"We shall see."

.....

I awoke again and yet remained adrift. Master's skill sustain me. My head I cannot lift.

"You see his twin sabers flashing against you in terrible might. Yet you do not falter or back away. Why, I wonder?"

"My Master had taught me well old woman. I followed the Force as it guided me to meet him. Combat is peaceful in the Force. I feel nothing but it's calm embrace."

"Ah. So you can see with your eyes. Very good. Then the skill you do possess. But courage, I wonder? Hmm. Come Jedi. I shall guide you down familiar paths and to places long thought forgotten."

"I shall follow. Lead on."

.....

I awoke again and yet something was amiss. Courage guide me. These visions persist.

"You see her sleeping form clutched in your arms. The black beasts come rushing for you and yet you leave the girl to side with an enemy. Your body is spent and the enemies do not tire, yet you remain to the combat. Why, I wonder?"

"Meridian was the mission. To leave the field would be to abandon all hope of success. I trust in the Force and sought what comes. Death is only the beginning."

"But you didn't die, did you. You survived just as the girl did too. Perhaps the Force as a will for you after all. Hmm. Come Jedi. I shall guide you down familiar paths and to places long thought forgotten."

"Lead on woman of the storm. I shall follow but little more."

.....

I awoke to dream of faces long thought lost. The spirits save me. My emotions tossed.

"You see her footsteps in the snow. They lead away from the window and soon you are alone. Why let her go, I wonder?"

"Fey was my friend and my life. A Jedi knows sacrifice and must endure. I let her go so that she might live. I keep her with me still in my heart. I will never let her memory go."

"It has almost been a year to that day, hasn't it. Does she remember you I wonder. In the Force we sacrifice much, do we not. Hmm. Come Jedi. I shall guide you down familiar paths and to places long thought forgotten."

"Lead on not much further woman. My head grows tired from these visions."

.....

I awoke and slept in silk sheets of night's sweet embrace. The flesh take me. I see her pale face.

"You see her sleeping so soundly. Royalty and wealth manifest in youth's tender skin. Alone and without a body to warm her. You had the chance to stay with her that night but you refused. Why, I wonder?"

"Teta became more to me than I ever thought she could. She opened a place in my heart I didn't think existed anymore. She brought meaning to my life. How could I believe she was anything less than heaven on earth. How could I claim that which was not mine to take. Seek not to invade heaven old woman. I respect that which is sacred above all else."

"Into the mirror you looked. For such strength only comes from within. The power to master your emotions lies hidden within you. Use the Force. Feel your potential. Seek it diligently young one. Do. Or do not. There is no try."

"Will you leave me woman. These thoughts surround me now."

"These thoughts are who you are, young Jedi. Do not turn away from them. Embrace them as yourself. Decisions made from trust in the Force. Trust in the events that are to come."

.....

I awoke and the visions faded into steam. Morning wake me. I can bear little more of dreams.

"I cannot see you woman. Where do you go?"

"There are places in the Iron Citadel where no man walks at night. To the deep roads that lay between the aisles of books and study. A library fit for a queen.

*****

Her voice fades as the light of a new morning greets you. You awaken to find it was all just a dream. A vision of the past seen anew through the splintered lens of the mind's eyes.

You rub your eyes against the day's first dawn. The stained-glass windows of the Iron Citadel's great library cast a pale red over your tired morning features. The large index you used for a pillow and your chair for a bed. As a Jedi, you did not sleep well as your thoughts intend. When did sleep take you? Are you not truly dead?

You remember slowly. Your ship is leaving this morning to carry you back to the Jedi Complex far out in Yavin's system. The adventures of Cinnagar and Teta are behind you now. Best to return to your people and the peaceful lifes that wait to welcome you. An Assembly is called that you must reverently attend.

Leave the past behind. It is the future you move to embrace. How long you slept, you do not know. Of all the woman spoke, you did not record. Respect the sacred and write it not.

The engines roar. The door is closed. To new horizons your story goes. In your heart keep that which is desire. A will of ice, a heart of fire. For the name Apprentice, you may soon retire.

It had been a few days in the Curran/Maddox universe, one of the rare times where their common orbit separated them by considerable distance. They still found time every day to unwind, hand-in-hand, through Thani, or share a round at the cantina, or one of any other myriad, spontaneous flights-of-fancy their relationship was already known for.

But today, it was time to try something new, but with serious repercussions. To Kyle, at least. Bragging rights were important, after all. And besides, he wanted to see what sort of spunk she was made of behind a fighter's controls. And so, they were staying grounded by playing in the stars.

Kyle waited patiently with Arby at the entrance to the simulators, arms folded across his chest, one foot up against the artificial bulkhead. The green-and-blue astromech beeped a query, and Kyle shrugged. "She'll be here when she can," he said, having intentionally left his chrono back at his bunk. "Most likely, our Princess is shoulder-deep in Lucy's guts, or showering off up to the same shoulder." Arby tinked a response, and Kyle smirked. "No, I don't think R4 tried to talk her out of coming."

He wasn't certain if Mads had seen the sims yet, and he didn't want to assume she had, so in his message to her, he had relayed navigational instructions to her datapad, allowing for, literally, step-by step directions to exactly where he was. He had attempted to describe his entered location as "Hotcakes" or "My Lips", but the New Republic Database was not free to edit. Nevertheless, his datapad was in his pocket, making him the assigned destination, no matter where he went.

How symbolic, he mused, cocky grin forming at the thought. Had it really only been a week prior that they'd met? They'd adjusted so swiftly to each others' schedules, it was as though they'd had this worked out before ever laying eyes on one another. Some things just worked out perfectly.

Arby "blert"ed another impatient remark, and Kyle scowled at the droid. "Take it easy. If you do run out of juice, I'll just plug you into the sim so you can recharge. She'll be here." I hope...it hadn't even dawned on him that, since she was in a separate squadron, orders relayed to her might not pass through the same channel as orders relayed to him. And since she was a Wraith, her orders had the potential of being labeled Classified, and her dedication to duty would prevent her from sharing them with him, no matter how much he buttered her up.

The thought of missing her on the first outbound flight she'd had since they'd met saddened him. "She'll be here..." The stunted droid whistled a low apology, and Kyle smiled. "It's okay, Arby. I know you didn't mean anything by it." Apparently, whoever designed this particular astromech had a naming algorithm installed to immediately cater a personality to their owner upon being individualized. Kyle liked it. Beat being grounded for a few days waiting for a software upgrade.

Meditating in her private quarter's on Last Stand A Sundered Heart Variant CR-90 Rayven sat awaiting her apprentices. They had been dispatched some time ago to gather their belongings and prepare for a mission into the unknown. They would find no hospitality on the ship. Its insides being painted black, adding a choking and overwhelming feeling of closed spaces to such a large ship. All the doors along the corridor had been closed off except for the last one leading into a common room. Its furnishing simple. A kitchen area with several couches for resting. A simple holo table in the middle appeared to be more for planning. Other then that, they would find no access to any place on the ship. Nor would they find their master waiting for them.

Liv's idea-flash had subsided into a full blooded mental explosion, which thudded through her brain like a speeder pushing exit velocity. She had to share it, she had to make it work, and she didn't know anybody else who could be better at helping her make it work than Reiko Novak.

Zila would know how to help her, being both the artist and the engineer. And Kyle? Well, if she thought for one second he wouldn't want to spend a few hours basking in her awesome glow she would be lobotomized at the end of a mining shaft on Mustafaar.

So, getting clearance to yank a room, Mads started laying things out, writing on the window glass and white metal wall with a dry-erase marker. So she could do it on datapad and computer, this felt more organic for her. There was nothing more satisfying than being able to take a palm and wipe out a frustrating scribble.

Not having told much to Reiko other than 'I've got this great idea and I need your help, please!', Mads prepared for Reiko's appearance and made to figure out the best explanation as she wrote the napkin equations more formally on a window looking out.

Kyle would be there to bask any second, she knew it.

The classroom was empty, filled only by the mid morning sunlight as it bounced over the empty desks, casting shadows across the fall wall. There have been a number of new Padawans being accepted recently, not to mention that N’yssa had her own new Padawan to look after. Kellian. A young boy who was unable to speak a word, but with some guidance she had taught him out to speak with the Force instead.

Although she knew he had gone through some traumatic events she was getting a little nervous on how he had recently attached himself to her. She didn’t mind at first but he would have to learn how to lean on his own strength eventually.

She had sent Kellian a message yesterday about starting his training today. Gave him the time and place to show up so they could go through the philosophy behind the Jedi. At the same time the pink haired Master had opened the class up to anyone else wishing to take part. It would do Kellian good to learn how to interact with others here.

Now that that is out of the way, I'd just like everyone to know that I'm without internet until probably monday. I'm gonna post in one or two big threads just to keep them moving along for the other people but other than that nothing else will be done til then.

Also I'm getting over a sickness caused by the damn tropical storm that played havoc with North Texas. Sinus and allergies and a bunch of other random crap.
So I'll be back soon. Til then.
The man that she had admitted into the order before any others had responded. Terrence Wilkinson was her first padawan. Yes, this terrified her.

She was teaching!

She went through all the calming exercises that she could trying to center herself and ready her mind to pass on that which she had learned. There was no point in being the opposite of what she would be teaching. She had to be the Jedi that people had said she could be. Now was the hour.
