A Day In Coruscant

The break of dawn shone brightly through the day. Jedi Knight Ceryx Os was sent to run an errand in Coruscant for the Students of the Light. Unfortunately Ceryx was alone for this errand. Usually company would be comforting. Ceryx boarded a small registered ship heading toward Coruscant.

It had been a while since he'd done anything for the Students of The Light. He'd been a bit busy with other things lately and had postponed assignments from the Students of the Light.

The ship flew through space and quickly arrived to its destination. Coruscant always made him feel good inside. It was the look and feel of the busy planet that made him feel this way. Ceryx exited the ship, and began to walk took out a small holopad from his pocket.

"What's on the laundry list?"

Without any knowledge of each other, both men were walking the bustling streets of Coruscant, carrying out whatever their will demanded. Ceryx who was running errands and Xylan who enjoyed coming back to his homeplanet to wreak havoc once darkness fell.

Dressed in his normal attire of black, what made him stick out was the long brimmed hat which was pulled down and shrouded his face. His hands rested easy on the hilts of his sabers, the Sith Warrior ready for any encounter. Xylan's mind was also aware and could sense the force within an abundance of people, but he would not detect Ceryx until they grew closer. That would be in no time as both headed towards each other along the street.

Ceryx read what was written on the holopad carefully and mumbled what he read. He nodded in confirmation. The Jedi Knight walked toward a 'mechanic's' store. He wasn't sure of its location because he had never been there before so he would surely get lost trying to get there.

Despite the "nice and busy" feel there was always some illegal things going on that soiled the beautiful planet. Illegal selling of weapons, illegal selling of death sticks, and illegal gambling roamed the alleys of Coruscant. It did not bother Ceryx that much. Ceryx took a deep breath and slowly began to feel a troubled mind in the Force.

Xylan shuffled his feet, the effects of boredom taking their toll. It seemed he had been walking forever without a thing to do and it was tiring. Stopping for a moment in front of a mechanic's store, he rested his hand on the back of his neck as he slowly began to rotate it to crack the stiff bones. As he succedded in the attempt, his eyes saw something beyond the door and his mind sensed a strong presence of the force within the building. From others he had encountered before, he could tell it was a Jedi.

Without thinking, he quickly began to mask his presence and perhaps get the chance to stalk the lightsider within.

Ceryx spoke to the clerk in the store. Ceryx had always liked the different parts of ships. He smiled at the clerk and asked:

"Can I have two lithium batteries please?"

The mechanic looked in the storage room where they stored all the equipment, parts and other necessities for ships. Patiently waiting, Ceryx looked outside. Something felt wrong. It was like an itch he couldn't scratch for some reason. The Jedi Knight didn't panic. He kept smiling.

The clerk returned and Ceryx paid him. He took the batteries out of their boxes and observed them carefully. They were in fact the batteries he was looking for. He took out the holopad once again and read it.

He headed toward the exit and looked both ways. He then proceeded to walking... once again.

Xylan watched as Ceryx did a bit of shopping inside. He wasn't in long though before he turned and headed for the door. Wanting to hide for now, the Sith quickly dashed down a street and peeked around the corner before ducking back, just in time to prevent the Jedi from seeing him. Waiting a minute, he looked back out and quickly caught site of him, continuing his shopping more than likely.

"All to easy."

Stepping out from the road, Xylan followed at a distance, watching.

Ceryx, by now, had figured out what was going on. He felt followed and when he looked back there was nobody there. But there was always that instinct where you FELT when you were being followed.

Ceryx stopped for a moment. There was less of a crowd in this area.

"Are you scared or something? Too afraid to show yourself?" Ceryx yelled out

Xylan turned his head and snickered as many of the civilians either stopped or kept walking, but each giving the man a look of stupidity. For all they knew, Ceryx was only talking to himself or some imaginary "friend."

Not afraid Jedi, only enjoying the comedy you bring and the troubles I'm bringing your mind. Fear has left me long ago and in its place...power.

The words entered into Ceryx's head as Xylan remained hidden in the crowd.

"Comedy?" Ceryx shouted again.

The people of Coruscant had obviously seen many crazy people in that city. With beggars running around talking "nonsense" the people of Coruscant might have already gotten used to it.

If you're not afraid, then why are you hiding? Your fear shows so much as you hide behind wherever you're hiding.

Ceryx continued to walk. Ceryx soon entered a bar and enjoyed a drink.

You want something? Come up and talk to me if you dare.

"Double dare me?"

The voice came from behind Ceryx as he was lifting his drink to his lips. It had been a few minutes before Xylan had entered the bar and he had managed to mask his presence long enough to get this little surprise.

"Now that I'm 'out of hiding', why did you care? Afraid I might attack you from behind?"

"No," Ceryx said confidently, "Just wanted to see who my admirer was"

Ceryx took another sip of his drink. The ambiance was rather hot and violent. The crowds talked loudly in the bar. Some were just drunken people who had nothing better to do than release the anger they had reserved from their sorry lives. Ceryx nodded - a habit he had.

"So what do you want?" Ceryx asked.

Ceryx did not know why someone was following him. Obviously, he was a Force user. Ceryx wondered why the dark ones always tended to try to pose a threat to whatever 'Jedi' they could track down. What would they accomplish by doing so? The Jedi, very low in numbers, barely posed a threat to the evils in the world.

"I don't think I'm your type, if that's what you're looking for."

"Please spare the sexual sarcasm. Its the lowest form of wit a Jedi can posses."

Xylan spoke the words as he came around and sat on the stool next to Ceryx. The Sith Warrior wasn't here for a fight...well at least not yet, but to entertain himself with some converstation with his sworn enemy.

"You Jedi would not have to worry about me 'stalking' you if you'd have recruited me when I was young. But no, a few of your kind enjoyed teasing me for the darkness they sensed in me as a child, and so now I kill anything related to Jedi."

Xylan grinned and already knew what Ceryx was about to say next.

"Now you say, 'A Jedi would never do such a thing. They were not one of us,' but of course thats a lie. They were Jedi and they paid with their lives for what they did.

"Your mind has obviously been brainwashed." Ceryx replied.

He'd never heard of a situation like this and if it were true then the Jedi weren't what they claimed to be. He'd never known any Jedi that wasn't willing to help. He'd never known a Jedi that "ridiculed." Sure, some had been rejected.

"If they did reject you, it was for a fair reason. If they 'teased' you, I doubt they were Jedi." Ceryx took another sip from his drink.

"As weird as this may sound to you, we try to help. Tell me one thing. How is killing the Jedi exactly going to solve your problem? How is it going to solve your anger toward us Jedi in general? We're not all the same, you know."

Ceryx had cut the sarcasm. Obviously there was trouble in the person he was speaking to. In Ceryx's opinion he was a bit naive and ignorant. He thought like a child.

"They rejected me for the darkness in my being, but still I was only a child at the time. Instead of 'helping,' they looked away. I knew that if thats the way it was going to be, I'd make sure all the Jedi were gone, since they won't help a little kid anyways."

Xylan grinned as he spoke and even qouted with his fingers as he said helping. He did not care what Ceryx thought of him. He was a Sith and therefore changed by power and hatred.

Ceryx began to become more interested in Xylan's story. He'd heard of some being rejected because Jedi Masters had thought that they had a characteristic that would lead them to the dark side but there was always aid for them.

"Do you remember the name of the Jedi who rejected you?"

Ceryx took another sip.

"I know that no matter how many Jedi you kill, the anger will never leave you. It just keeps tormenting you."
