Missing All The Action...
Haruun Kal, just outside Excavation Camp 06: One day before proposed war date
The drool spilling from the Akk hound’s open mouth slid down Derakai’s arm as he head it back by it neck, trying to push it off him as it had him pinned to the ground. He had come to Haruun Kal because of a distress call from one of the inhabitants. It seems that rogue mutated Akk hounds had been set loose within the jungle during an excavation project, some rival company wanting their opponents death to look as nature as possible, but these dogs were all the proof they needed to know it wasn’t natural. Twice the normal size of a regular Akk Dog, and 4 times as strong; it took 3 tranquilizers to take out one, and with two of the three out like a light and only one tranquilizer left and in the hound it looked like Derakai had things wrapped up nicely…
“Just fall asleep!”
He yelled as the Akk Hound barked loudly at him, continuing to try to bite his head off not even showing any sign of the sedative taking effect. His mission was simple; capture the Akk dogs and bring them back, but before he could reach Haruun Kal the head supervisor’s daughter had wandered off into the forest to try and capture the dogs her self. She presumed dead, most likely killed by the Akk dogs, but on the ground leaning against the tree unable to move from fright was the young girl, no older than Derakai from the looks off it, and too young to die now. She wanted to help the Jedi, but she was too afraid to do anything but cower.

Derakai was running out of options since he wasn’t willing to kill the beast that was trying desperately to kill him. Rolling slightly to his right and then quickly pushing to his left in a roll he spun the Akk dog on it back long enough to get his footing and prepared to do quite possibly the dumbest thing he could do.
“Okay puppy, let’s dance!”
The Akk dog got back onto its feet quickly and leapt at Derakai as he had planned. He jumped back and landed crouching down on the ground with his right leg extended and spinning to the left to kick out the dogs muscular legs. To his luck the sedative get through enough to weaken the dog’s strength allowing Derakai to kick out its front legs before it could attack again. Derakai placed his hands on the ground to get himself back up as he ran towards to dog attempting to grab his leg with his left hand and smash his right arm into its joint to break it. Though he broke the dog’s leg easily it managed to sink its teeth into Derakai’s right; and after a quiet grunt from Derakai and fist to the snout the snout for the Akk dog it quickly released his arm and fell back limping on its broken arm. Now whimpering slightly, the Akk dog began to tremble and tried to push it self away from Derakai, but as soon as he tried to approach it its attitude towards him changed back to its viscous self.

N’yssa stood at the entrance to Camp 06 from the wild jungle of Haruun Kal, with four excavators all carrying a handful of tranquilizers each. Derakai told her to stand guard here just in case one of those Akk dogs got by him and tried to attack the camp. She was surprised and excited that he would ask her to accompany him on this mission; she was defiantly on her way to become a Jedi.
She wore the robes of a Jedi with a somewhat oversized leather jacket and had her hair tied loosely down her back. Ever since Derakai left the camp she kept tabs on his location every so often with the force, when suddenly she felt something go wrong. Searching out with the force to Derakai’s location she sensed that his was hurt in someway. Not wanting to abandon the post he assigned her to she thought out a plan. Making her decision she turned to the excavators.
“Something has gone wrong, you three stay here and keep and eye out.” she said, she then pointed to the fourth. “You and I will track down Derakai. I can sense his location so it shouldn’t take long.” Taking an inventory of their tranquilizers, the two of them had 7 between them, and emergency medical supplies; they headed out towards Derakai’s location.

Silence…nothing but utter silence as Derakai and the Akk dog stared into each others eyes, blinking at the exact same time, never looking away and never moving a muscle. The Akk dog was still in a sitting position, hardly able to move and some how knowing it wouldn’t be able to go too fast, and Derakai, holding his right arm with his left hand, but showing no trace of pain at all, his full attention on the hound. The girl was shocked and surprised that she was still alive, still too frightened to move thinking that the dog will be able to reach her before the hurt Jedi could stop it.
Derakai didn’t want to hurt the animal further but if it decided to make another move his left hand would do just as good a job as his right should he need to use his Lightsaber to take out his other leg, this was the last resort in Derakai’s mind, but he soon realized he didn’t have to think of it at all.
“There is a rescue group on its way, but until it gets here and the Akk Dog is properly detained do not make any sudden movements, it may be hurt but it can still most likely be able to jump at you.”
The girl nodded but Derakai did not once take his attention off the hound.

Following Derakai’s signature through the lush jungle proved to be harder then N’yssa thought but still her and the excavator made good speed. Suddenly the two of them burst into a clearing where they saw Derakai and the Akk dog at a standoff. Never had she seen a wild dog so large before.
Doing a quick tally of the situation N’yssa shot a tranquilizer at the injured dog. It seemed not to make much of a difference but to get even more upset. It seemed to know that it was outnumbered but still wouldn’t give up with out a fight. Thrashing about wildly as it felt the drought. Quickly she held up the tranquilizer ready to shoot again, when the excavator beside her shot one first. The Akk dog then began to run at the newcomers with new found strength when suddenly the effects of the sleeping drought engulfed the dog and it slid to the ground in a deep sleep only a few feet away from N’yssa. A bit shaken she moved around the massive dog and approached Derakai, ordering the excavator to see to the girl who held on to the tree.
“Is there any more?” N’yssa asked as she scanned the surroundings. Feeling safe she proceeded to pull out some medical supplies and see to Derakai’s injuries

As the hound made its sluggish way to the ground Derakai was walking beside it and past it as it fell to the ground, having run to distract it should the tranquilizers not work, but there was nothing to worry about, just as the other two Akk dogs, three tranqs was enough.
“Well done young Nyssa, you accessed the problem and acted with your judgment and senses, well done. The other two are over by the tree unconscious.”
He looked down to the hound and then to his arm as Nyssa frantically began to take care of it, but he quickly moved it away from her.
“The civilians come first Padawan, though the excavator may be capable of helping her it is our job to make sure that she is physically and mentally safe.”
His arm was drenched with blood but it seems that the wound had closed up and the blood flowing out of him stopped.
He walked over to the girl expecting Nyssa to follow him and then waved Nyssa past him to allow her to access the situation further.

Giving a small nod to Derakai, N’yssa followed him over to where the young girl stood, still shocked at the whole ordeal. Passing Derakai, she knelt down and began to see to her injuries. It was mostly shock, and after a few moments she calmed down and was more receptive to her surroundings, answering N’yssa’s questions to ease her surroundings.
Soon a low hum could be heard coming towards the small party. Looking upwards, the group could see the transports coming to their location to relocate these wild dogs. As they landed N’yssa stood up with the girl and began to move towards the transports. N’yssa stood close to Derakai, silently relieved that this will soon be over with.

As the transports landed Derakai made his way to intercept the other men before they approached the unconscious Akk Dogs, wanting to get something clear with them.
“What do you plan to do with the Akk dogs?”
The men looked at him funny, as if they weren’t expecting what he said.
‘We’re going to take them back to the camp were we can properly destroy them.’
Derakai waved his hand slightly in front of him without completely lifting his arm.
“You are going to transport those creatures to some place where they can be detained and kept safe, maybe even cured from their current status.”
The men, even the pilots of the transports, eyes all glazed over as Derakai spoke. Derakai seemed to have some difficulty with what he was doing but they not noticing in their trance.
‘We are going to transport those creatures to some place where they can be detained and kept safe, maybe even cured from their current status.’
Derakai seemed to calm down and lose the fatigue he had just suffered, giving the men a gentile nod.
“Very good, that sound like a very logical plan. Carry on.”
The men went to work to do as they said while Derakai made his way back to N’yssa. As he stood beside her he spoke to her within her mind, not knowing if she would be able to concentrate on sending anything back.
~I don’t want you affecting others minds as I just did unless the situation desperately calls for it, is that understood? You can acknowledge me with a nod if you wish.~
“You did very well for you first mission N’yssa, I am indeed impressed with you decision making skills. The real reason I ask you to join me on this mission was because I wish for you to be my learner, if you will allow me to be your teacher in the ways of the force.”

N’yssa stood back from the group and watched Derakai make sure that no harm was to befall the dogs they just captured. Deep down N’yssa could understand the intentions of the others to get rid of the Dogs once and for all, they were just trying to protect themselves the one way they knew how to, she also knew that a Jedi protects all aspects of life. Seeing the scene play out in front of her, she was glade that Derakai showed them another method to deal with their problems other then death, she hoped that they will learn what they can from these dogs to prevent a future situation similar to what had already happened.
Seeing Derakai approach, she heard his voice within her head:
~I don’t want you affecting others minds as I just did unless the situation desperately calls for it, is that understood? You can acknowledge me with a nod if you wish.~
N'yssa gave a slight nod of her head, Understood. she replied back.
Upon hearing the following words from Derakai’s mouth, N’yssa quickly turned her head to meet his eyes, surprised and puzzled within hers. “Are you serious?” was all that she could say at the moment. She knew that he was, “Well….yes…yes of course you can be my Teacher.” said N’yssa, letting a small smile escape her lips.

He began walking back to the camp making sure that N’yssa was following. He was indeed impressed with her skill and intuition, and perhaps with his help she wouldn’t have to suffer some of the tragedies that he has. What better teacher to have than one that has made many mistakes in his life, so that they could easily point them out and know how to correct them.
“I will try and be as good a teacher as the Masters, but if you didn’t already know you are my very first student as of the time of my becoming a Knight. I know I had you in my basic Force Techniques class, but it will be much different from that since you will have my undivided attention.”
He did not have to “try” to be like the Master, a part of him knew that he could indeed do an excellent job in preparing this young girl for the cruel world outside the walls of the Temple, this exercise proved that she was ready as well.
But as they were walking a very sharp pain in Derakai’s appeared, nearly knocking him forward as his hand flew up to his forehead as if to stop himself from falling down. Then his head popped up against with an indescribable look on his face as he realized that what he hoped wouldn’t happen, did. He was reluctantly planning on joining the War on Tattooine but he was told that it wouldn’t begin until day-break tomorrow. It had indeed started and had already turned bad, Derakai could feel the Jedi that were passing to the beyond into the Force, and it hurt so much that the pain in his injured arm returned.
“We must make great haste N’yssa; the events on Tattooine have turned sour.”
He began to now sprint towards the camp site but not going at his top speed so as to allow N’yssa follow easily.

Following close behind N’yssa listened as he spoke about her being his first student, she smiled softly at Derakai’s remarks.
Suddenly Derakai stopped right in front of her, she almost crashed into him. Moving around to see his face, N’yssa stood in silence as she gazed. He seemed to be focused something far away, and also seemed to be in great pain. Standing still, N’yssa was puzzled at what was going on and how to help. Finally he spoke:
“We must make great haste N’yssa; the events on Tattooine have turned sour.”
He then began to run down towards the camp, N’yssa following closely behind.
“What has happened?” she asked, unsure if she would get a response. Could it be the war? N’yssa thought to herself.

As they ran another episode of pain ran through Derakai’s mind as he felt another Jedi fall. He felt that given the time he had and the amount of Jedi going to the war that it would be impossible for him to help, but he wasn’t about to give up.
“So far two Jedi have died, I am uncertain who at this range but none-the-less I must help them as quickly as possible.”
They made it to the camp much faster than it took N’yssa to get to Derakai, and without hesitation Derakai reached out with the force to start up his ship while they ran towards it, the hanger door opening completely just as they reached it and closing the moment they got in the ship.
“I am sorry but I do not have enough time to bring you back to Yavin 8, it seems you are going to have to come with me to Tattooine, but…”
He sat down in cockpit seat and instantly took off and made his way out of the atmosphere of Haruun Kal, turning slightly to look at N’yssa.
“…You are not to leave this ship while on the planet surface, you will have my permission to take off at anytime if you should sense danger, and don’t hesitate to leave me on Tattooine should you have to return to Yavin 8 to be safe or an outstanding amount of hours pass. If you do leave make sure that you notify the Jedi that there may need to be some rescue crews ready to treat heavily injured patients.”
He set a course for Tattooine.
