Real Emotion

Coruscant was forever her favorite place to be. The city planet, though busy with the people she oh-so-loathed, was full of lights and attraction that had been absent in her childhood. One could say she retained a child-like fascination that charmed her every time it was sparked. The slim walk-way she stood upon was crowded by large waves of coming and going groups fluctuating from clubs, bars, and twenty-four hour businesses. One could hardly say the human woman was common, though her intent was known by the posed position she stood and the serene look of utter patience that graced her rather charming features.

Crossing her arms over her chest, she gazed down at the flying speeders and shuttles suspended in the enigmatic aura that seemed to flow from the building walls that crushed the surface of the large planet. Lenne, though one usually annoyed by the presence of others, barely noticed those around her and continued to await her childhood friend, Chase.

'He's late...'

He had stared at the letter for over ten minutes after opening it. It wasn't because he never received mail anymore, it was because it was signed by Lenne.

Lenne.

He had completely forgotton about her. The memories of the two playing as kids came back and a feeling of nostalgia flooded his senses. Even now, after so many years, he could remember her smile.

--

Frowning, Chase pushed his way through the crowd. Even though the letter had said to meet on the walk-way, it was hard to see just which woman was her. He hadn't the faintest idea of what she looked like anymore.

He raised his hand and shielded his eyes from the sun, glancing over the crowd.

Where is she ...

Weapons were a common thing found in the city, but people veered away from the smiling woman when to twin death-hammer blasters were drawn from her utility belt. Spinning them about with all the speed and elegance of a stealth fighter, Lenne casually ran her trimmed nails over the length of the neon glowing trim customly made by her own influenced design.

Chase...

She wondered if he looked the same, her thoughts seemingly to drift to a far off land as she continued to twirl the rather expensive weapons between her graceful finger-tips.

Events that had led to their friendship were recalled all to easily, but she knew she was probably forgotten.

'...Late...'

Something out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and Chase automatically looked to his right. A woman was spinning twin blasters with ease, as if she was bored. As if she was ... waiting?

That had to be her. Yes, he could see the resemblence now from his memory. A slight smile drew on his lips and he drew closer, shoving his hands in his duster's pockets.

"You never were one for patience," he said, stopping infront of Lenne.

Just like old times.

'And after all this time.. that's all you have to say to me..?' She smiled slightly, spinning the blasters back into the holsters located on her hips. Stepping up onto the railing the prevented pedestrians from crashing off the walkway and all the way down to Coruscant's surface, Lenne kept her gaze away from him. Urging herself to prolong the rush of emotion for a moment longer, she wrapped her arms around herself and then sighed, looking up at him. Her breath caught in her throat and immediately she crashed forward from the railing and into his chest.

Arching a slender brow, that rippled with an embarrassed twitch, Lenne looked up at him and offered a childish smile that would always be present in their memories. She was unable to smother a cheerful giggle as she stepped back and looked him over, inspecting him with an almost protective and worried expression.

'You really grew. How have you been, Chase...?'

He cocked his head to the side, watching as she stood on the railing. He wasn't quite sure what Lenne was up to, but hopefully she wouldn't lose her balance. He wasn't expecting her to fall on him, though.

Immediately Chase placed his hands on her shoulders as if to steady Lenne.

"You weren't expecting me to stay little forever, were you, Lenne?"

Looking down, he returned the smile with brotherly affection. Her blue eye reminded him of the sea on his home planet.

"I've been busy," he replied, shrugging his shoulders. "And you?"

'Up to no good, as usual, Chase. You should know.' She grinned slightly and looked up at him, her eyes, one blue one green, dancing over his face in sisterly assessment. Reaching up and patting his cheek playfully, she spun away from him and looked back over the railing, causing his hands to drop from her shoulders while her own found their place on the railing. Tilting her head from side to side, keeping beat with an unheard song playing through the interior of her mind, Lenne looked over her shoulder at him, her smile fading slightly. She hoped he hadn't changed too much.

She wasn't here to talk about herself. She was kind of ashamed by her lacking life and its wrong turns that seemed the only option. A bounty hunter, in this age, wasn't very well respected, despite their power of certain weak minded fools that happened to cross their path. Perhaps that was why she became one. To have some kind of power whereas to relieve the weakness common in her childhood.

'I've been fine, I suppose. What have you been doing that has kept you so busy? I must admit, it was rather hard to reach you, even for me.'

He watched her silently, noticing her smile fade. It seemed as though something was bothering her, but he wasn't one to force her to speak about it.

"After Nyphrio was destroyed, I didn't see a purpose in my life. For a couple years I guess I was searching for myself."

Saying this brought back memories he had been trying to surpress for years. He closed his eyes momentarily before continuing.

"But I joined the Jedi now."

He hardly ever wore the brown robes, though. Today was no exception. He was wearing loose, beige pants along with a white t-shirt and a black duster. On the back two holes were cut so his wings could fold comfortably on his back. Chase was still self conscious of them, though, being that he'd never seen anyone else with this physical trait.

He remembered how Lenne was one of the few people on his homeplanet that wasn't an Amorian, and how he'd loved her like a sister for it. Her different colored eyes always made him think that she had some magical abilities that no one else had. Or at least he had when he was a child.

Frost moves slowly down the walkway, his hands clasped lightly behind his back. He stands tall as he walks, smiling slightly as the people of Coruscant move out of his way after looking at his uniform. Not many trusted the Inquisitors.. thought them to be an odd bunch, but that suited him just fine.

His eyes dancing around the crowd quickly as he walks, cracking his neck quietly.

Boring day...

"Oh, it's not so bad," muttered Keagle, picking up on his superior's thought. He was walking alongside the Inquisitor, deep in thought about his impending doom. Every second with a beating heart was a bonus, he reasoned, at least until he found a semi-permanent way of avoiding his fate. It could be done, of that he was sure, but he was going to chance one more field mission with the Empire, for the sake of gathering some memories to take on his journey with him. Although Frost was more a professional aquaintance than a friend, he was still one more person to say goodbye to, permantly or not.

"You want to watch who hears you thinking, Inquisitor," he grinned sideways. "We don't want the mark picking up on our whereabouts."

"You're way to jumpy. Let them pick us up, It's not like there's much they can do about it anyways."

.:Scratching the insides of his eyes, he kept pace with both Keagle and Frost. An enlogated yawn followed his words, stretching right than left. He'd only been awake a few minutes and was already on the go. These sorts of things didn't really afford much time anyways he thought to himself.:.

"I'm kidding, if you hadn't noticed."

A jedi? Her Chase was a Jedi? She cackled inwardly and shook her head. At least one of them was doing good, right? She suddenly recalled why she was here, and with a violent streak of seriousness, Lenne turned to him, her eyes downcast. She remembered Railynn's words, her childish voice a haunting specter forever implanted in the back of her scrambled mind. She was damned to die by prediction, given by someone never judge wrong. It was to happen soon and she didn't want to involve her childhood friend in the bloody deed.

Don't let yourself be forgotten. Instill a good memory within your best friend and you shall live forever. Protect him, it is the price for your sins. I'm sorry that it can't be different, Lenne. It hurts me when such predictions pop-up, but it is better that I tell you then let you fade into the backbone of passing time..

'It's good to know that you are doing so well. I just had a feeling that you were in some kind of trouble.' Lenne shrugged slightly and looked up at him, her eyes flashing as a beam of light shining from a nearby advertisement sign glinted in their direction. 'You know.. I've never had a better friend.. even if we did split up for a while.'

His eyebrows furrowed when Lenne mentioned that she thought he could be in some type of trouble. He couldn't think of anything that would put his life in danger at the moment, but he picked up on something else. There was an undercurrent in her voice that suggested she wanted to say more.

"Lenne ..." He moved closer, clearly concerned, "You know I'll always try to be there for you."

Her eyes, though glinting, were clouded by a hidden thought.

"What's wrong? You can tell me."

'I'm not gonna be around much longer.' She blurted out suddenly, waving her hand off to the side with a burst of finality. She had so little left of her life, why did she feel like crying when she was around him? She wanted so much more out of the life she had chose to live, but now it seemed all too distant, so far out of her reach. She would never have children, never be married, never get to laugh and sing again. She had long since been of the state of denial that seemed to consume all her weakly protected emotions. There was nothing left of her except the final words she had to say to him.

They just wouldn't come out...

'You could say I'm going away for a long.. long time.' She whispered, leaning back slightly on her heels. 'I don't want to get you involved. I just wanted to say good bye, is all. Okay..?'

"You could say I'm going away for a long, long time."

"Oh, God."

Without warning the Apprentice dropped, stumbled for a few steps, and quickly found a wall to steady himself. Tears stung his eyes as he stared wildly around, every voice becoming dead to his ears as he frantically listened for the woman he had just heard. Just nights ago he had said those same words to Jezebella, the love of his life, when he confessed that his time was short, and his days were coming to an end. No matter how many times he denyed it to himself, those words hit home like a fist to the gut.

He looked back at Killian, their gaze colliding in a way that only a thousand words could. He had heard too, and although it wouldn't mean the same to Killian, there was no doubt the Knight would see something was wrong.

"Goodbye..."
